World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

Components

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the back items that are not ascending. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor).
