WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item upgrade has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an Best item upgrader is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots.
