1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test. It can be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the budget robot vacuum to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. When connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10
