The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum with mop vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart best robot vacuum makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
