However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. 3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum cleaner we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuums uk vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
