Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust dirt) and wet messes (spills and stains) in one time without the need to switch out devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot should be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bins and fill up their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads using the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer for its relatively affordable price, and it's among the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start manual can get you running in no time. It comes with the complete dust bag, water tank, and hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can mops up a storm and vacuums well too. The mops spin at high speeds and apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, as well as a selection of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you want for each room.

You can, for example request the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models can't. The only problem is that the robot tends to hit walls and objects at a high speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning on the app will tell you exactly what the robot accomplished, where it's traveling, and what obstacles he has run into or avoided.

A convenient LCD screen on the docking station shows you when maintenance tasks need to be done, such as emptying the debris tray and cleaning the dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the water tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop are able to run for a long time as well, with the mop being capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. You can also view the complete cleaning details within the app, which is well laid out and easily understood, though we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum only or mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot vacuum mop cleaner robot and mop is the newest version. The model this year has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This improves the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that enables it to remove smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners might miss.

This Roborock model, just like the other two models I tested, best automatic Vacuum cleaner has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it overcome obstacles like furniture, walls, and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and decide whether they are a wall or another surface. It then can alter its direction automatically and clean them, without missing a step.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek, angular style is attractive and it has only three physical buttons that include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to send the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin auto-refills.

The only downside I've discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth when needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount for washing manually. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and that can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can manage and set up these via the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor battery life. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops to enable voice control on this model which is unfortunate considering how well it performs otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop equipped with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and innovative features. Its intelligent design allows for customised and efficient cleaning while also saving time.

The X40 best robot vacuum and mop vacuum (they said) cleaner is the first one to provide 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful alternatives available. This powerful vacuum can clean up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry mess. It comes with a mop that is high quality that cleans hard floors without the use of a pad. The X40 is also very quiet while in use with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.

The X40 also comes with an additional side brush that can be lifted and extended. This lets it reach into corners that are difficult to reach and clean curved furniture like chairs and table legs. It also allows the robot to get under low-profile furniture which makes it a great option for smaller apartments and condos with tight spaces. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas, or vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is intuitive and user-friendly and the X40's clever features are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, see mapping and floor plans and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also monitor its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous features that make it a great choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads, then refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It also can detect when the mop pad is full and notify you when it overflows, thus reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. However, it has many characteristics that make it stand out. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, dirt particles and remove spills and dirty spots.

The mop is also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use. This is a great feature because it prevents the build-up of odours and mould in the storage area, and it also makes mop systems more efficient. This is a system we've yet to see on other robot vacuums and mop models, and it could be a great method to keep your home clean for longer.

There are many options, including the option to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. The app lets you make these settings or you can use the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and provides a number of options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also has many functions that are not available on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks sophisticated and classy. It's heavier than the other two-in-one robots on this list - at around 4kg however it's not overly heavy, and feels robust and well built. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mops work well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
