Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency at which you'll need to manually vacuum. Choose one that has an easy navigation, can clean corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that requires emptying only once in a while.

There are models that can mop and charge on their own which can be important for people with pets or kids. The top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good option for those looking for an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have test. It can be stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it may encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is empty it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant use. It takes 3 hours to charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line and is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your best robot vacuum under 200 via the app or voice.

In our testing the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying that eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After being connected, to speak commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This is enough time to clean the average-sized home, but not enough to reach every area. (A second time generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It's capable of sucking up most types of debris and sizes during our tests, and it frequently goes over the same areas multiple times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice feature.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often is power-depleted before making it back to its original location.

It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

It also has a smart vacuum cleaner app that lets you view the virtual map, and control functions and schedules. You can also check the vacuum's status and send it to its dock for charging with the click of a button. The app lets you customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to tell where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.

The application also allows you to steer the robot manually should you need to. My living room rug, for example is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots.
