Pragmatics and Semantics

Many modern philosophical perspectives focus on semantics. For instance, Brandom focuses on linguistic meaning (albeit from a pragmatic viewpoint).

In addition to these critics pragmatism was challenged by technological and scientific developments. For instance, pragmatists struggled to reconcile their opinions on science with the development of evolutionary theory, which was developed by a non-pragmatist Richard Dawkins.

Despite these difficulties, pragmatic method continues to gain popularity around the world. It is a third alternative to analytic and Continental philosophical traditions, and has a wide range of practical applications.
