Path of Exile item upgrader Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and important way to improve the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Often times however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the performance of the item they are connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged using a specialist or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrade components from items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can take on. A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game, and they all have distinct effects. Certain upgrades grant armor an additional amount of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade that an item will be given, as illustrated below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Certain upgrades also require fees to use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest method to improve your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost to stats and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.

The process of upgrading an armor piece to its maximum upgrade item level will significantly increase its defense capabilities however, the user must be aware that increasing its weight can drastically decrease its speed and agility. Therefore, it is generally not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the added defense is typically not worth the weight and power cost of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Some weapons also have special upgrades that enhance their inherent characteristics. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades for weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific number of Bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade, the more expensive the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be lower.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. In the past, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a set amount of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher rarity. You could continue to do this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would be reset.

It's possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear with minimal upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a higher likelihood of granting you highest level of benefits and blessings.

Most players will want to prioritize upgrades to the weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress quicker. Players should also upgrade the weapons their teammates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when paired with biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in armor and weapons. They can be created using a process called jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem and a number of specific ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the quality of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or through collecting Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the gem it can provide different stat boosts when it is inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

All levels of jewels can be made at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for them. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels are able to be swapped with another jewel of the same kind without destroying the original one. You are able to replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth and is typically used for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create an outer layer that is more durable than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. These are a small perk and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs are also removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like aegis and traits, are not swappable, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets can give your character many small, but beneficial advantages. You can find them in the start-up area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They can also be obtained from vendors and by the completion of road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket players will unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but valuable boost in movement speed and the ability to evade. The player will then be able to acquire rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with a slot for an upgrade that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be placed in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This lets the hero be more effective when not active and also helps to compensate for the absence of a solid team or any slots from the talent tree that would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.

A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrade-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is especially true if an item upgrader mod (find more) has multiple stats that you wish to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the start of the game. Top and mid players, on the other hand they will select a green or a pink ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets that form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, like finishing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss.
