Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item can be enhanced by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at once to get a gauge of the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats on your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished by various methods such as the use of upgrade components and also upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to increase their value.

Most upgrade components inserted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the equipment in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have an unusable rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to a different piece of equipment by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

If you want to remove a glyph from an item then you'll need to salvage it using an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed that it was installed in however, you can salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards so this should not be considered as a loss.

When you take away an item after adding a glyph, the shards of the glyph will vanish. You can also add a glyph on your equipment to give it a bonus. Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes on weapons and other equipment.
