Saab Key Programming

Saab cars that were built prior to 1994 have an immobilizer system made up of coded keys. The addition of a key requires an entirely new transponder and programming. This is usually done at the dealer with a specialized Tech2 diagnostic tool.

Transponder key

The transponder is a type of key that is equipped with an electronic chip. The chip sends a signal when the key is placed in the ignition. The car then examines the signal to determine whether it is identical to the one in the key. If the signals are identical, the car will unlock itself and begin.
