The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great alternative for those who want a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the budget robot vacuum when it is full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they are very good at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have tested. It can get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it might come across. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes 3 hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and comes with all the latest features. It has self vacuum-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot via the app or voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to match the task that is being completed. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back.

This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also provides an easy access to two attachments as well as the wand. This is a major improvement over earlier Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its claims to run up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. Because of this, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently will run out of battery before making it back to its base.

Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's not a surprise that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for some buyers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that is accessible via the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station.
